This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students refuse to let their circumstances define them. Although they come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, that is no excuse for why they can not, will not or do not want to learn. They are full of life and full of questions. They come to school each day with a new hunger for learning, despite whatever may be going on at home. Our school is a Title I School where more than 70% of our student body is on free or reduced meals.
The VersaTiles Math Classroom Kit will add to our instructional environment.
Our students will be able to use the materials in a small group rotation or they can use them in a learning center. The kits allow for the students to check themselves, so they don't require that much support from the teacher. The students can see which problems they missed immediately and make corrections, if necessary. The classroom kit comes with multiple standards that the students can practice and receive reinforcement. Multiple students can practice lessons at the same time. They can work together or they can work independently.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
