Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are highly motivated and are passionate about music! They have found a way to persevere despite the fact that circumstances have put them through such challenging times.
Each student is valued as a growing citizen of society, learning to contribute to the world they live in through the arts.
They come from diverse backgrounds, most from underprivileged homes, but they all have one thing in common: they understand that the arts play such a vital role in society, and the power it has to transform lives. That is what continually drives me to further develop their skills and continue to sharpen their craft as musicians. I am extremely proud to work with such eager learners willing to grow in every aspect of their lives through music!
My Project
In the 21st Century, learning has been transforming in many different ways. Technology has played a very important role in education, and that has not been any different when it comes to music education. With the shift in the scope of education, especially during this pandemic, technology has played an integral role in reaching and impacting the heart and minds of students.
With a new Macbook Pro, I will be able to make use of music creation and video editing software that will give students better resources to engage in while learning remotely.
Being able to connect with students in a manner in which they can relate to will have a huge impact on their learning. The new Macbook Pro will also allow me to run music creation software and video conferencing with students simultaneously more efficiently, thus instructing and keeping students engaged with minimal lag and delay. Without the lag, students can have a smoother workflow within their individual/group projects, and will be able to connect with their bandmates in using more resources over a shorter period of time. I will also be able to create higher quality and interactive video lessons through the use of video editing software, to also keep the students' engagement level high.
Students will be able to acquire skills they will need to create music, they will be able to view different methods in which music can be created, and they will have resources that I create, catered specifically to their needs. It will foster socialization, creativity, engagement, and efficiency, further develop competency in music, and address the social/emotional challenges remote learning poses, through socialization, creativity, and engagement.
