Developing Student Mindsets Through Service Learning

Help me give my students small incentives for academics and behavior that can be distributed to the class. We also need electronics to establish a welcoming family community with special seating.

My Project

Incentives are exciting and can help boost the energy of the class for the entire day. Celebrating classroom birthdays is a great way to build a community in the classroom.

The camera will give students an opportunity to document how they view the world and show that view to the rest of the people who will see their photos.

Furthermore, creating family photos during reading/fun night will help make family time more memorable.

Flexible seating will be used to create a warm, safe atmosphere in the classroom. During Parent Teacher conferences, parents can enjoy comfortable seating.

The drone will be used to reinforce STEM learning. Students will be able to explore STEM concepts by challenging themselves to ask important questions and act on their curiosity. If a drone does not fly, they can ask themselves why and perhaps begin to better understand the elements that make their craft hover.

This project will help me build community within my school and establish long term goals for students' academics and curiosity to allow themselves to take academic risks. My students will learn to take care of the special treat handed over to them by their friends and give their love back by writing a note/card to the birthday friend.
