My Students
Our students are respectful, driven, and high-achievers. I love that they work hard and accomplish so much, whether it's in school or in the community. Their future is so bright, they need to wear sunglasses!
But even with all their drive and ambition, the pressure of high expectations and stresses affect our students in a real way.
Sometimes their prosocial skills aren't as solid as they need to be to excel in all settings and circumstances. But with some evidenced-based coaching, they can expand their skill set which will springboard them to further success.
My Project
If this project is funded students can learn important strategies, such as how to solve problems, develop impulse control, cooperate, and anticipate consequences. Age appropriate and fun exercises help children refine skills and successfully apply them in complex, human interactions, both in and out of the classroom
Each skill is designed to help children learn about their feelings and practice healthy social interactions through easily implementable lesson plans.
These skills have been found to be critical for success in school, as well as in adulthood. Research shows that early intervention is essential. These skills can be taught in a small group or in the general classroom, so many of our students will benefit.
There are hundreds of printable exercises available for use by the students in the Activity Books and Workbooks. These supplies will be used directly by the students when the facilitator implements the activities. This is a practical, practiced-based approach which takes active participation by students to accomplish. The Skill Cards list the steps for every skill and are used during the activities by the children to follow the skill steps as they perform or observe role-play situations. The teacher's Guides and Lesson Plans tell exactly what to do when implementing the Skillstreaming approach with the students. The teacher guide books and workbooks/activity books work in tandem; the workbooks and activities used by the children need to be used in conjunction with the teaching guides for the best possible outcomes.
