Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title 1 (low income, economic disadvantaged) school that serves a large population of students who are learning English as a second language. My classroom is comprised of students who are learning their native tongue (English or Spanish) along with a second language (English or Spanish). My students will graduate from this program being fully bilingual in the two languages. In order for this to be successfully completed, these students need the literacy support and classroom environment to help stimulate their learning.
Many of my students have reached the point where they can listen, speak, read, and write in both languages but they have a lot of room to grow still.
My students read on levels starting at a 1st grade level going to a 4th or 5th grade level. As an educator, I need the resources to meet all of their needs. With the funding from this project, I will be able to accomplish this.
If you can't read, you can't write. If you can't read/write, you can't be successful in life. I want my students to have the necessary tools to become the most successful they can become.
My Project
Having an organized space for their learning, helps them grow! Please help us continue our growth by helping us organize our classroom library with mobile carts to move around the room for easier access to our reading materials. Also, our easel is a big part of our classroom. We use it for many different things. Such as, shared writing, anchor charts, math talks, story boards, and morning messages. Without a proper easel, these things would be difficult to accomplish.
