My Students

In today's world, computer skills are a must. One of these important skills is keyboarding, correctly and quickly.

I teach computers to 450 K-8 students in a low income, urban district in CT.

They love to work on computers and often don't get the opportunity to do it at home. They are very enthusiastic and love to learn, especially on the computer. They also love a good competition!

My Project

In my computer class we have typing software that I use to teach the students how to type properly. It is still difficult though. I have to constantly remind them to do it correctly and it's not always their favorite thing to do. To inspire them, I'm have a typing tournament for 3rd and 4th grade. I want to offer some great 1st place prizes, to make it as exciting and motivating as possible. Therefore, I need iPod Shuffles, one for each class in the tournament.

By providing the 1st place prizes for the tournament you will be giving my students motivation to become better typists.

As a result, 2nd and 3rd graders will work harder next year in anticipation of the tournament. If students learn how to type correctly now, this important skill will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
