My Students
Developing into readers can be a tough process. We have to think of creative ways to ease the children into it without making them struggle.
30 urban city children from a variety of ethnic backgrounds come together to make up this Kindergarten classroom.
Our elementary is located in Pennsylvania. Our students have a variety of academic needs and abilities. They love learning working and learning with technology (I think this reminds them of their video games :) )
My Project
Word Their Way is a practical instructional approach to phonics and phonemic awareness. The children will develop these skills by doing letter and words sorts and then phonics games. The skills will progress as their knowledge base grows. These activities can be preformed whole group or small group for more intense instruction.
This project is important because I am developing the students academic foundation.
This will help them develop into proficient readers and writers. I have tried portions of this program in previous years and it was a success. I would love to have the whole program to use, the possibilities of academic growth are exciting!
