This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know that playing with play dough is not only fun but beneficial for young children? Well, my preschoolers love to get messy and creative when they mold, squeeze, and strengthen their tiny hand muscles and tendons, but they need additional tools and play dough to enhance their development.

My preschoolers are a wonderful group of 24 children; they are three and four years old and eager to learn.

They have limited educational resources at home because they come from low-income households, but they are very enthusiastic learners and happy children! My goal is to provide them with a positive environment at school where they can develop their natural curiosity and desire to learn about the world. Because of the young age of our preschool students, as well as the large ELL population in our school, hands-on activities are a necessity to help them develop their fine motor and language skills.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of Play-Doh sets to incorporate them during our free choice time. As part of a simple tactile activity, my students will have the opportunity not only to squash, squeeze, roll, flatten, chop, cut, score, rake, puncture, poke, shred, but they will also be able to smell, see, and develop their language skills as well. In addition, they will be able to form letters, numbers, 2D and 3D shapes, etc.

If we add other elements like the cup cake, the doctor, and the ice cream sets, the list of benefits and creative possibilities will continue to grow endlessly.

However, is only through donations that my students will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of Play-Doh sets to enhance their development in preschool. Please choose my project and invest in the well being of young children. They are our future and it is pivotal that we encourage them to succeed in school.
