Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students with learning differences present with difficulties in retelling narratives due to the complex language skill narrative retelling requires. Wordless books helps to build formulation of language. Difficulty with reading makes it even more challenging since these students are already having reading difficulties and having to read a text you cannot read adds an additional sense of inability. The wordless pictures books requested in my project takes the reading stress from students and instead aids in formulation of their own stories related to the pictures. This flexibility of producing your own stories allows me to work more individually in forming appropriately and grammatically accurate sentences and a logical sequence of events that can then be translated to their daily communication and language skills.
