Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With all the required curriculum we have to teach, art often gets overlooked or pushed aside. But including art in a child's education is equally important in their development. Art allows for kids to show their own unique creativity. In addition to creativity art will help kids develop motivation, confidence, decision making skills, and originality as well as many other important skills children need to learn, develop, and refine.
My goals for this project are to build student art portfolios to showcase their creativity and progress over time and to allow my student to reflect, take ownership, and care for their work.
I also have several students that have exceptional art skills and I would like to build a separate portfolio to have them submitted to qualify for GATE in visual arts.
I teach in a low socioeconomic area where 100% of our students receive free lunch therefore asking for extra supplies from parents may be a financial hardship. Any help purchasing these items for my kids would be greatly appreciated.
