This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
There have been many instances where students have mentioned to me that they do not have a passion or interest in reading because they have not found a book that has captured their attention. However, throughout the past couple of quarters in the school year, my students have begun to spark their interest in reading through book groups. With these book groups, students not only are able to discuss the books that they are reading, but also engage in academic conversations about their books.
When students are provided with new book titles, especially books that they can relate to, this can spark their love for reading both inside and outside of the classroom.
With these books, I hope to expand on my students' love for reading by opening up their worlds to a variety of genres whether it is a coming of age novel in verse, or a thriller that may keep them on the edge of their seat.
