My Students

First and second graders are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed. Our goal as a classroom is that we enter the classroom each day ready to try new things and be brave to make mistakes. Mistakes lead to learning. As a teacher in an impoverished urban area, we struggle to have access to resources needed to provide a quality twenty-first century education. My goal is to provide an equitable education for each student in our classroom.

I teach eager and enthusiastic students who need these resources to reach their full potential.

My Project

How can we expect our students to read at home without having books that are at their level and many choices to choose from? This project is intended to do both. The variety of genres at different levels provide choice for students to pick books that they can read independently. When a child learns to read, each child goes at his or her own pace. Not one student is the same.

The goal of the project is to fill our classroom library with additional leveled readers that will be engaging and challenging.

A great classroom is one that offers challenges to grow as readers. Our goal is to do that with these books.
