Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager, active, curious, and imaginative hands-on learners. My students are engaged daily in a rigorous, integrated academic curriculum. Students live in a high poverty, metropolitan city and attend a Title I school. Our inner city school lacks the funding to access supplemental learning materials. In particular, they lack access to multimedia and technology.
My students show up to class daily and work diligently to overcome the many challenges they face living in the inner city.
My students enjoy working cooperatively and display great creativity. Parents continually seek the best possible educational opportunities for their child. Additionally, I believe children benefit from experiences that include discovery, exploration, awakening curiosity. It is my goal to find resources and curricula that will prepare my students to be college and career ready.
My Project
As a well-rounded educator in all subject areas, I would like to use the Asus Zenbook laptop computer to further enhance my personal financial knowledge and literacy skills through online research and education.
For example, I plan on using the Asus Zenbook to access the non-profit organization Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy plethora of online information and resources for teacher professional development.
Through my own personal financial learning from reading and researching on the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy website, it will have a direct impact on my students own financial literacy growth.
I will learn about the National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education that delineate the personal finance knowledge and ability that young people should acquire throughout their kindergarten through 12th grade school years to emerge as independent adult consumers, fully prepared to make wise financial decisions for a lifetime of economic well-being. I will learn the framework of a comprehensive personal finance curriculum that begins early in elementary school, builds on foundational knowledge and results in high school graduates who are competent, confident managers of their own money.
With your generous support, I will be able to develop professionally and increase my personal financial knowledge and literacy skills.
