This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom, our students engage in hands on learning to develop meaningful math skills and early financial literacy. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, including cultures, languages, and developmental strengths and needs. They attend a Title 1 school and many of our students live within an underserved and marginalized community.
As we look to our new school year, our goal is to support our students in learning financial literacy through movement, building, music, and drawing/writing.
The Giant Number Stepping Stones will help our students learn number knowledge and counting skills, and also support development of number sense. As young children learn best through play and exploration, the LEGO sets, magnetic building blocks, and egg shakers will provide our students opportunities to develop spatial awareness, matching, counting, and quantity concepts.
