My Students
As a school counselor, I serve over 500 students (K-5) in discovering themselves through social-emotional wellness. I have students come to me from different socioeconomic levels, learning styles and cultural backgrounds, to help with their problem-solving and educational decisions. We encourage them to take a socially conscious leadership role that helps create a more positive, unified and respectful school environment. All children, including students with special needs, deserve to learn in a safe, supportive and dynamic environment. Our goal is to unleash each child's full potential.
My Project
Working in the arts helps learners to develop creative problem-solving skills. The arts provide challenges for learners at all levels.
Art education connects students with their own culture as well as with the world. Art is important because it encompasses all the developmental domains in child development. Art lends itself to physical development and the enhancement of fine and gross motor skills. It is proven that children learn about themselves and others through art activities. Learning how to use the cutter and other supplies will help them build self-esteem. The paper, pens, markers and cutting board will allow students to get creative and make projects that they will be proud to show off during parent nights and conferences.
