This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
You or someone in your family may have a computer in their home, school, or public library. Can you imagine a classroom without computers, not having transportation to go places, unemployment, closed libraries in your community? This is what my students face daily! NO COMPUTERS!
My students are 4 and 5 years old who live in an underprivileged neighborhood.
They face many challenges and adversities. They are eager to learn new concepts and skills, but have limited resources at school to enhance their learning. They attend an inner city public school in the state of Michigan that has faced drastic budget cuts and school closings.
My Project
The advantages of having computers in the classroom will encourage turn-taking, foster talking and negotiating, develop problem solving skills, allow the children to experiment at their own pace, and provide a rich context for language exploration. Having computers in the classroom can benefit children with special needs to support their efforts to communicate, explore, and play independently or with their peers.
By having computers in the classroom, it will spark the children's learning and imagination.
This will open a new world of excitement for my class of preschoolers. They will be inspired to learn new language, problem solve, and interact with their peers. You will put a smile on their faces where despair resonates from the adversities and challenges they face.
