Destroying Disengagement with Digital Devices

Help me give my students Chrome Books to knock the boredom out, and get them into exploring their world.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful, art focused students who are looking for ways to create while learning. However, some skip history class and are completely disengaged with academic work.

My students are so engaged when presented with technology, and so very disengaged when they are not.

Some of my students would rather accept the consequences of being absent or cutting a class rather than attend my class. If I can have a more tech focused climate in my classroom I know those students who skip and who check out as soon as we open our textbooks will perk up and get into learning.

All of my students have a focus in a specific area of art and have very engaged classes in dance, music, or theater. However, in my history classroom providing paper resources for research can be dry and disengaging. With access to the internet in my classroom, students will have much more opportunities for genuine engaging research.

My Project

My students will be using these Chrome books to keep them engaged in current events as well as exploring the annuls of historical content on the internet.

My students need these chrome books to get them excited about coming to history class to do historical research and to create digital media to share in class.

In today's fast paced high tech environment my students quickly become disengaged in material that doesn't have that current digital age focus. In fact it often keeps students from coming to class. They choose to skip class, or come to school late so they can steer clear of a class that is devoid of 21st century supplies.

With more access to the internet in class, my students will be able to be more engaged in our current world and explore material outside the outdated paper book material they currently have access too.
