My Project
Kids love being on the computers! Students also love centers where they can relax and use their imagination. This is the first year since before COVID-19 for our school to have a computer lab and the first time for it to be part of the daily rotation which includes grades kindergarten through sixth-grade plus special needs students. The "lab" is in the former art room and has no carpet, only hard flooring. While some supplies remain in the art room, they are few and used.
By providing the students with books, crayons, and comfortable floor seating they will be productively engaged while waiting to get on the computers.
The stress balls will be fun and have the added advantage of strengthening small hands and fingers. And kids love to get a little reward when they achieve their goals.
After many years teaching library, this is my first year teaching computer lab. The younger students (K-2) enjoy having books read to them and many of my favorite books are included in the materials I requested. Some of the other books will be used to encourage students and reinforce good social/emotional behaviors. Many of my students get frustrated with the computer lessons and optional activities are important destressers. Donors like you make it possible for kids to have an exciting learning environment outside of their home classroom. I can't thank you enough for supporting this project.
