Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The center that will be located on the corner of my classroom will need to have various games that many high school students enjoy (uno, connect 4, taco cat goat cheese pizza, etc.). The lights and the charging stations help set that mood for students to destress and just take a break from understanding complex mathematical concepts.

My goal for this project is to cultivate a community and fosters positive mental health.

I want students to learn how to engage with other students in the class in a setting that is not always about math and at the same time have fun. Playing games with each student brings laughter and a friendly competitiveness that is hard to achieve when you are understanding math all day.

My students are so special to me that I am constantly looking ways to improve my classroom and my teaching. Many times, my students don't have the resources that they need, and I want to make sure that I am that teacher who provides for those resources for them so that they be successful. Each student has so much potential, and I want to be that teacher that helps them discover them. They work so hard, and they deserve adults in their life that will work as hard as them if not harder for them. Creating this environment would hopefully open opportunities for students to just relax and have fun in math because I know that many of my students come from broken backgrounds and drama that many times hinder their learning in my classroom.
