Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a dual-language community school that serves ECE through sixth-grade students. We provide a rigorous, bilingual academic program that prepares all of our students for global citizenship in the 21st-century. In the school, 97% of our student population participates in the free or reduced-price lunch program. The student body is 91% Latino/Hispanic, 4% Black, 3% White, and 2% Asian.
My Project
I use whiteboards daily to support student writing and math skills, our current whiteboards are years old. I use highlighters to help with reading, since we are a Title I school, many students do not have access to crayons or colored pencils. These materials help them to illustrate their writing, identify shapes and words using tactile screens. The ability to teach with these materials eases the work of the students and helps them focus on the skills they are being taught. Thank you for supporting the learners in my classroom!
