it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember when you had to search for a descent place to sit in the classroom to focus on a reading/writing task and you could not find a comfortable place to sit because each area of the classroom was consumed with noise; well that is the problem my students are having.
My students are from an impoverished area of Miami Florida where the needs are many and their needs are seldom met.
My student usually walk into my classroom each year hungry for knowledge. My school is 80% or more free lunch, where safety around the school is a threatening.
My Project
My students need a Writing/ Reading Center in a designated area of my the classroom that they can just go to without interference. I want my students to know that there is a focused area just for them to practice their writing skills in a Writing Interest Learning Center designated just for them. I want my students to know that they have a designated place to communicate their ideas through drawing and print.
The Writing/Reading Interest Area is important for my students because they do not have a designated area in the classroom to do their writing.
My students need the Writing/Reading Interest area to focus on their writing knowing that they do not have to move constantly into another area of the room because for some reason their classmates chooses to venture into their area by extending their range of play.
