Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently middle school teacher in a high needs area. My students love hands on activities because they are fully engaged and motivated throughout their class session.

My students have to overcome many language barriers, learn the English language and required school concepts with little or no help from their parents.

Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language as well as knowledge of these science concepts. My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings. Learning the language and sitting copying notes for an extended period of time is not the hands on experience I desire for them.

My Project

Unfortunately due to the budget cuts schools are facing teachers in my school are no longer being supplied with copy/printer paper. I am requesting plain copy paper for their final projects. Since my students are classified as English Language Learners a technique that has proved successful is color coding. Having one specific color for vocabulary, homework, classwork, letters to parents, review sheets, exams, etc will help them stay organized and complete required tasks. Supplying my students with this material would be a small step but it would give my students one less obstacle to overcome on their own.

Supplying my classes with plain copy/printer paper would give us more time to experience more hands on opportunities.

Your help is desperately needed to help our room function properly. Parents, students, and myself all depend on paper for our class to run well. This can only happen with your aid. Please help us, every little bit helps!
