My Students

I'm fortunate to be part of a school that strives for excellence. We meet students' needs with rigorous teaching strategies, and we expect only the best from our students.

My school is proud to be a Leader in Me school that works on taking the 7 habits of author Steven Covey, making them age-appropriate, and working them into our school campus so that students begin to see their campus as a way to show leadership.

Leader in Me is not a curriculum, but rather a way of doing life on the school campus through awareness of how we learn and grow and how we speak and treat one another.

Students learn the habit of solving conflicts, and then they become conflict managers. This is just one way the Leader in Me program looks on our campus. Students take the 7 Habits that are taught to them and begin to think of ways they can take ownership of their campus through leadership. Whether it's a 5th grader helping a 1st grader to read, students setting goals and overcoming academic obstacles, or students seeing a need to clean their campus, these are all ways that the 7 Habits teach students to lead.

My Project

I am requesting desktop prop and park trays that will go on top of the desks of students to help organize their pencils, highlighters, post-its, and name tag. This tray is great in teaching students to keep their supplies organized as well as keeping their name tag free from getting creased and damaged in order to the last the school year. I am also requesting file folders for students to use to store their work on some projects we are doing this school year. One project is them creating a animal research project from our reading curriculum. Lastly, I am requesting some plastic silverware to be used by students throughout the school year at classroom parties, one of which will be our Celebrations Around the World party.
