I teach a diverse group of second graders from a low-income/high poverty area. Most of my students struggle with the idea of school work. They don't get a lot of help from home and any educational experiences they receive are done at school. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions and answers. They love hands-on activities and projects that are engaging and allow them to think outside the box to find the possible solutions. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow academically and personally. Truly, they are an inspiration!
They love to earn little rewards for their daily choices.
We have incorporated a program where they earn plastic money for their choices they make in the classroom. They earn, save, count and spend their money on desk pets in our classroom. They use their desks pets in our room to help with their learning.
