This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There are 13 students in my 1st Grade ICT blended learning classroom and 8 in my Kindergarten ICT blended learning classroom. My students are from low-income families. Many of the students have limited resources at home. Most of the students rely on school resources to learn their academics. Parents often borrow supplies from the school and classrooms to further assist their children's education at home.

Many students have IEPs, special services, ​and ENL services.

Since our students have a variety of needs, we want to create a welcoming and warm environment for our students to learn in. Our students benefit from routines and organization so they can be comfortable and ready to learn.

My Project

My in-person classroom needs more desk shields to help protect teachers and students from the COVID-19 germs! Even though COVID-19 cases are rising in New York City, schools have opened up to help support our students. This also meant that more students were assigned to my classroom. We want to help support our students and their families but we want to do it safely!

Desk guards help protect everyone from the spread of COVID-19!

Half of my students have asthma and/or young which means having a mask on all day is extremely uncomfortable. They are constantly pulling down their masks in order to breathe which can cause a spread of germs. Having these desk shields will help further prevent germs from spreading. It also allows students to take mini breaks to breathe without missing out on crucial learning experiences. Please help our students learn safely!!
