Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students start to become less focused as the school year comes to an end. Our second grade team uses desk pets to motivate our younger students to keep going through the last stretch of the school year!

I would love to have desk pets: animal, Pete the Cat, and Dog Man erasers, to keep my students engaged through the end of the year!

My students will adopt a pet and get an adoption certificate as well as a habitat, plastic containers, for their pets to live in. We even plan several writing assignments around their pets. Throughout the day, students will get brain breaks to take care of their pets. Some even take theirs out to recess to play with friends. If they have difficulty completing their classwork or following classroom rules, their desk pets will end up in daycare temporarily. (This rarely happens because they love having their pets at their desk.) Thank you in advance for helping me keep my students motivated for the remainder of this year!
