Designs Come to Life with a 3D Printer

Help me give my students a 3D printer and filament to engage them in the design process through meaningful collaboration with peers.

My Project

As fifth graders, my students were learning virtually for the end of their first grade year, as well as most of their second and third grade years. Because of this, they missed out on a lot of valuable hands-on learning surrounding the design process. I would like to enhance their learning in STEM by allowing them to engineer designs digitally and see their creations come to life with a 3D printer. We will incorporate this during our science instruction, so students can analyze real-world problems and develop potential solutions. My students have never had the opportunity to use a 3D printer. I also included several colors of filament so students have many choices in their design.
