Designing With 21st Century Technology

Help me give my students three 3D printers so that I can teach them how to utilize the latest design technologies in this 21st century learning environment for design competitions and class projects!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every one of my students is creative in their own unique way and they each express their creativity in different ways. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been able to teach skills such as sketching, physical model making, presentation skills, 3D design software, and more within my architecture & engineering courses at ACE Amandla. Students are also taught about the latest 21st century technology being utilized in design, specifically within architecture, construction, and engineering. Students have learned about laser cutting, CNC milling, and 3D printing.

With these three 3D printers, students (freshman through seniors) will be able to bring the projects that they create using 3D design software (SketchUp and Revit) to life.

Not only will students be able to print their creations, but they will learn to set and operate a 3D printer.

Currently, the juniors and seniors are excited to have kicked off the second semester by participating in the Newhouse Architecture + Design Competition for the second year in a row; last year we were fortunate enough to have placed 1st in the Safe Play Spaces category of the competition.
