Designing Our PreK Floor Space

Help me give my students rugs to better define the boundaries between our play spaces.

My Project

We have a beautiful school and classroom, but our classroom only came with two rugs for our entire classroom space.

In preschool, carpets are important for meeting the social and emotional needs of young children.

Rugs create a warm and welcoming space for play and learning. With additional rugs, more flexible seating options become available for those children who prefer to sit on the ground. An added benefit is that rugs help define boundaries between different areas and activities in the classroom. Research also shows that children in more legible classrooms evidence fewer behavioral disruptions.

With this funding, the aquarium flotex hygienic rug would be used to define the water table exploration area. The sense of place carpet runner would be used to warm up and create a homey environment in our dramatic play area. The STEM rug will be used to define the work area in our science/discovery area.
