This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My junior high Engineering and Technology students are problem-solvers, tinkerers, and innovators. They thrive in hands-on, collaborative environments where they can explore, create, and push boundaries. Many of them come from underserved backgrounds, but they come to class eager to learn, collaborate, and develop skills that will prepare them for high school, careers, and beyond.

This project will fund a durable classroom table where students can sit in pairs and small groups to work together on design challenges, building projects, and technology-based tasks.

Right now, we’re limited by space and furniture that doesn't support the kind of collaboration and creativity that engineering work requires.

In addition, I’m requesting headphones so students can engage with digital design tools, coding programs, simulations, and instructional videos without distractions. Whether they’re watching a tutorial, coding a robot, or exploring a CAD platform, having quality headphones will make it easier for each student to focus and work at their own pace.

With a central collaboration table and personal headphones, students will be better equipped to brainstorm, design, and build together—just like real engineers and tech professionals. These tools will create a more functional, focused, and engaging learning space, giving students the environment they need to grow their STEM skills and confidence.
