This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of BAHSLA, a proud member of the DISD. Our school serves approximately 2,200 students, with 89% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, and 75.6% identified as at-risk learners . Many of our students face significant challenges, including economic hardship, housing instability, and limited access to mental health resources.

In recent years, BA has emerged as one of the top schools in DISD in need of mental health support .

Recognizing this critical need, our school has taken proactive steps to support our students' well-being. We have established a drop-in center that provides a safe space for students to access food, resources, and emotional support during times of crisis .

To further enhance our support for students, we are seeking donations to transform our counseling suite into a more welcoming and comfortable environment. A thoughtfully decorated space can significantly impact a student's willingness to seek help and engage in counseling services. We aim to create a space that reflects our commitment to their mental and emotional well-being.

We would be deeply grateful for any support you can provide. Your involvement would make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and demonstrate a shared commitment to their success and well-being.
