My Students

My first graders are high energy, passionate learners! They are not afraid to try new things, and they soak up knowledge through fun activities. We are a low-income school in a rural area, but my students have unlimited potential.

I wish you could experience the excitement of a first grader when they first make sense of a new concept.

I teach 3 different classes of Math throughout the day. Each group is full of students with diverse backgrounds. Very few had the experience of preschool. Hands-on exploration is key to building a foundation for math and science concepts.

My Project

Earlier in the school year, our classroom received a Donor's Choose grant to purchase magnetic building materials for our STEM tubs. They have been a tremendous success. My students beg to use them and have created amazing designs. They have grown tremendously in their cooperation skills as well.

We are in need of additional magnetic building materials to expand the design potential for our first graders.

There are not currently enough magnetic shapes for groups to share and complete the projects they are working on. With the addition of the Magformer shapes we are requesting, the students will have enough to create amazing structures. By helping to fund this project you will be inspiring future engineers, mathematicians, architects, and teachers!
