Help me give my students items to use while I am teaching small groups. These games, building toys, and drawing books will keep them busy as they wait to be seen one on one with the teacher.
I teach a 7th grade special education learning disabled unit in Kearns, Utah. My students deal with autism, intellectual, and behavior challenges.
My students are funny, brave, and a they need more than I can afford to give them.
I strive to help my students learn emotion regulation and their ABC's and 123's! My students need a lot of hand on activities and ways to cope with the wiggles. Our school has a 60% free and reduced lunch rate and breakfast is also served. ALL children matter and deserve success. My students matter so much to me and they really are special!
My Project
While waiting to see the teacher in a small group setting or one on one, my students need to be actively engaged in activities they can do without help. Drawing books and building blocks can help me to fulfill this need.
As a result, I am then able to see more students per class and address more individual learning needs.
It would also be so helpful to have reward items (treats and prizes) to use when my students complete their learning and behavior goals. In addition, I am working hard to address issues of kindness, acceptance, and tolerance in my classroom. Colorful posters can help me reinforce these concepts
