This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My hardworking and resilient students have all recently immigrated to the United States. Many were separated from their families to pursue a safer and more prosperous future in the United States. They now live in one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods in Oakland. Most do not have the financial freedom when it comes to making purchases, whether they are essential or not. Our school has the highest number of unaccompanied minors, which means that many of my students reside in shelters, foster homes, or numerous sponsors’ homes.

Help provide students with deodorant to stay hygienic and smell good!

All deodorant will be equitably distributed through our school's community closet (in which the highest-need students are identified to bring home items for their families in need).
