Dental Health and Wellness

My Students

I am a teacher of English Learners in a low-income, high-poverty school district. My elementary school students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. These challenges are both academic and social-emotional.

Despite these challenges, my students have a love for learning and give their best effort every day.

Our vibrant school community embraces diversity in every form. We celebrate the inclusion of all students in our programs and classrooms.

My students not only work hard on building their academic skills but also on their social skills. I am always amazed at the perseverance, bravery, and resilience they have when they arrive at our school with little or no English and succeed!

My Project

I will be teaching my English Learners about dental health and general wellness this school year. They will learn how to brush their teeth the correct way and the importance of brushing twice per day. I will also be reinforcing the importance of wearing masks while in school and public places to keep them safe.

My students will get to take home a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and individually wrapped masks.

These supplies will allow them to practice their learning at home and teach siblings and parents about health and wellness.
