Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom is filled with excitement, but we have to incorporate sustained reading. The students do paired reading to help with reading and listening skills.
My students do not like to read on their own.
They have to be motivated and encouraged to read. They will read more if they can read with friends. Some of them have never read, for enjoyment, with a friend. The opportunity to do so will make sure the students have another way to look at reading and another activity to share with friends.
My Project
My students will use the Mt. Shasta Classroom Carpet Rug in order to be more relaxed while reading. If the students find that reading can be relaxing and fun, they may be more willing to read more often. Students will also be able to use the rug to have a change of location to complete classwork and any other activities.
This project will make a difference because it will give the students another option for learning.
This will provide a more home and family feel to our classroom and the students can enjoy sharing the rug with friends and taking care of it.
