Instead of spending a month and a half on something less engaging, my students got to immerse themselves in the world of Panem.\r\n\r\nMy students and I read the book together, completing special projects along the way that tied into the events of the book. We created chariot costumes, our own Mockingjay pins, blackout poetry, flower bouquets for Rue, and more. Additionally, students were assigned to Districts, and they made and broke alliances with one another along the way.\r\n\r\nThe novel study culminated in a quiz-bowl style elimination game, where students searched a themed classroom for questions and battled it out to see who knew the most about the book. Those alliances from before were put to the test as students earned Sponsors, chose to go it alone, and put their book knowledge to the test. It was the perfect end to an immersive study, and my kids and I cannot thank you enough for this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1712191006303,"projectUrl":"project/not-your-average-novel-study-the-ram-ga/8288843/","projectTitle":"Not Your Average Novel Study: The Ram Games","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9499511_orig.jpg?crop=453,454,x0,y172&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1711941210724","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9499511"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13791","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":616,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":13791,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richland Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richland Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/birdville-independent-school-district/richland-middle-school/13791"}
