Demonstrated Lessons During Distance Learning

Help me give my students more interactive and modeled lessons during their time learning from home. The document camera will allow me to demonstrate and model assignment completion, while the monitor behind me gives them an unobstructed view.

My Students

School is a safe space for my students, physically, academically, and emotionally. Currently, my students are learning from their home which looks different for each of my students. Some are learning in comfortable spaces where they are together with their families. In some cases my students are one of many siblings, whose parents are working and unable to help them with school work. In every circumstance, students and their families are asked to venture into a world none of us have experienced - distance learning.

My students are continuing their learning of language and content, far away from their teachers.

Opportunities for meaningful interaction with content and classmates are few and far between. and the hands-on, engaging lessons we participated in in our classrooms are now demonstrations or gone entirely as students do not have access to the technology or materials necessary.

Currently, my smart phone is the strongest tool I have to continue reaching my students. Daily phone calls, text messages and FaceTime conversations are helping us stay connected. For students with access to the internet and devices, I record lessons and screencast videos to help them access lessons.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will allow me to better demonstrate assignment completion and model a variety of activities without having to move my computer around to get lessons on video. The document camera connected to a larger monitor behind me will allow students an unobstructed and clear view of expectations and ideas.

While learning from home, many students are missing a model of what their products could look like.

Only seeing the directions on their computer screen and hearing them read aloud overwhelms the students and creates a barrier to their learning.
