Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

April to June is when my students transitioned to fully online learning. My students were able to borrow laptops from the district, and we have been using Google Classroom. Due to working in a Title I school, many of the kids did not have access to technology prior to borrowing a school laptop.

We went home on a Thursday and school was canceled indefinitely on Thursday night, so the kids were not able to take home any supplies for them to use.

All of the uncertainty that is going on in the world right now is scary. That is why I am trying hard to get resources and supplies in my students' hands not only to help with their education but also to bring them some comfort.

My Project

The laptop that I am currently using for distance learning is very outdated. Recently the camera has started to go on it, which has made Google Meets nearly impossible!

I have noticed when holding virtual meetings, that my laptop freezes, and at times, has to be closed down, in order to continue.

This is frustrating to all the students and me. I need to restart the whole lesson.

I also see that when creating slide shows and presentations, my laptop is not able to handle the load. My laptop does not have the added technology to make my presentations truly engaging and eye-catching.

The new laptop will enable me to give the most to my students in our new virtual learning community.
