My Students
Imagine creating a masterpiece, but not being able to share it with anyone. That is what my students go through. They eagerly type stories and poems or create vibrant colored images on the computer, but with no printer they are unable to share their hard work with their families.
My 1st graders are eager and excited to learn.
They attend a school in an urban area, with a high crime rate and many come from low economic backgrounds, but they don't let societal ills affect them, as someone older may. They are young, energetic, and full of promise.
While I try to ensure my classroom is a great learning environment on a daily basis, my students enter the classroom at a disadvantage. Many of them do not have Internet access at home and rely solely on computer use at school. Therefore, it is important that they also have access to a printer to print quick jobs in the classroom that they can later share with family.
My Project
After completing an assignment, students will be able to print their work immediately. My students will have the ability to print photos they take in the classroom and around the school building. Having a classroom printer and extra ink will give me the ability to print materials for the students in color, for classroom display, as well as allow students to see their work in full color instead of black and white.
If my students are able to print small assignments in the classroom in color, they will be able to share their work with their families by taking them home, and with the rest of the school by displaying their computer generated assignments on the classroom bulletin board.
