Help me give my students access to independent reading books during distance learning since many only have 5 books or less at home and delivering bold and engaging books to them will help them continue to grow.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We believe reading bold books and reading books at younger grades than other districts. We push for strong academic results. We are pushing harder texts, bigger ideas and things that are the most engaging to adolescents. We believe in affirming all of our scholars’ identifies and read stories about many cultures, languages, religions, family structures, personal identities and diverse experiences.
Our scholars are driven and they rise to the challenge everyday!
The structure of our learning has changed and they want to continue growing. Our scholars deserve to have continued access to challenging and engaging literature. We need books to be delivered to kids so that they can continue reading!
My Project
My scholars recently filled out a survey where many students said that they had 5 books or less at home. While our school worked to deliver books to them, it hasn't been enough to sustain the amount of time that they've been learning from home. Scholars need to continue reading so that they can continue growing. Reading is an essential part of learning and without access to independent reading books reading growth will decline. Now, more than ever, our scholars need access to materials. Libraries are closed, our classrooms are closed, and scholars are home. We need to bring reading to their doorstep.
