80% of our school's students were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
We're a public school in one of the most diverse areas of the country. Most of the students lost their belongings during the flooding. Not only did the students lose their belongings during the actual rain, the remaining unaffected students got flooded impacted during the following water release through the reservoirs.
We are proud to represent a multicultural community of learners. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our district. Students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Schools have the responsibility of providing the best possible education if our students are to acquire a 21st century education. That includes a commitment to technology integration, all subjects and the arts. Our multicultural tapestry gives our school an appreciation of the global community, and so we hope you will support our projects with that in mind.
My Project
My students will be able to experience learning about plants and how the plants show geotropism, thigmotropism, phototropism and hydrotropism. The students will be able to see with the help of a time lapse camera how a plant germinates. They will be able to keep track of how it reacts to light, water, touch and gravity. Using the lamp we can see how light makes the plants grow towards the light. Using water we can see how the roots of the plants move towards water in the ground. Using the kits "See It Grow Plant Lab" and "Sprout and Grow Window" we will be able to achieve our goal of learning .Mt students will use the kits to explore, interact, and learn about a variety of concepts in biology, and ecology. This project is designed to engage students in learning.
As a result, maybe some of my scholars will be inspired to pursue agricultural and biology fields of study.
