Help me give my students books about the rainforest to give them a deeper understanding of deforestation in the Amazon.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My co-teacher and I have 34 kind, hard-working students this year. We have a bigger group than we usually do, and our students are all very aware of that. They are constantly going out of their way to help us, and each other. For example, if any student finishes their work early, they are eager to help their classmates because "there's a lot of us!"
Seeing the faces of my students light up when they make a connection about something we learned is the greatest feeling in the world.
Our class has an exceptional amount of low-performing students, and our goal this year is to expose them to as much as possible so they can be successful in the years to come.
My Project
My co-teacher and I work in an urban area, and our students are not often exposed to different types of communities. Our third unit of the year revolves around deforestation, the Amazon Rainforest, and Peru. However, many students often have a hard time fully understanding the parts of the world we discuss because they rarely leave their urban setting.
Giving our students access to these 2 books will allow them to put their new knowledge of deforestation, the Amazon, and Peru into context.
It is our hope that they will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the people and animals that live in the Amazon and are affected by deforestation if they read books in which the characters are directly affected by it.
More than half of students from low‑income households
