First graders have a unique sense of wonder about everything around them and an enthusiastic desire to learn and grow. My students face challenges daily and overcome them with a sense of wonder and curiosity.
The current pandemic situation has left our educational leaders with a lot of challenges in regards to what our upcoming school year will look like.
My students completed their Kindergarten year under unprecedented circumstances, and did so with enthusiasm and dedication.
We are an urban school community that has provided tools and opportunities that promote academic success, motivation, problem-solving, independence, personal growth mindset, as well as fostering 21st century skills that will prepare our students for the future. We are a family with diverse cultural backgrounds and academic abilities. Our technology-rich environment allows for students to creatively show their learning outcomes using a variety of programs and applications. The area around our school is growing daily, encouraging a large student population, which enhances our diverse classrooms.
My Project
Our students completed their Kindergarten year from home with limited notice and resources. Their dedication and resilience during this time showed their desire for learning and educational success. Google Classroom, in conjunction with our online learning tools, will continue to be utilized to provide quality learning opportunities for our students. However, my learners would benefit greatly from me having a document camera and a white board to record lessons, utilizing strategies that will be reinforced through online assignments.
This project will provide a document camera, white board easel, chart paper, and writing utensils for being able to provide interactive lessons that model and reinforce lessons in a visual manner.
The future of our school year is still uncertain, while there is a large possibility of distance learning being a component of our school year. In order to enhance my living room classroom environment, it is very important that I have the resources to help them grasp the concepts and skills they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.
