My Project

My classroom currently uses rip-off Kallax shelves as cubbies, where our students' belongings are stacked on top of one another. While this system is resourceful, it contributes to the hassle of the day: students must scramble to manage their materials in fast-paced transitions. I believe my students deserve a better experience at school.

Having dedicated lockers will contribute to an organized and calm environment.

When students feel confident and secure, their ability to learn increases. I challenge my students to be responsible for their homework, water bottles, lunch pails, change of clothes, returned old work, and delivering items to parents. Our 1st graders need better support to meet these expectations.

We teachers want our students to be able to fully commit their attention to a lesson. When a misunderstanding that occurred while reaching for their Kallax cube distracts them, they cannot fully commit their attention to learning. Having dedicated lockers in the classroom will keep their things visible, reduce stress throughout the day, and support their social and academic growth.
