Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title I school and are eligible for free lunch.
Our school comprises African-American, Hispanic, and international students, primarily African, Vietnamese, and Kurdish students.
Many of them are learning English as a second language. They need to be able to express themselves through their art. My students love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.
My Project
A flood from a burst pipe in the bathroom destroyed the art posters that I use to teach the elements of art to Kindergarten classes. I have no more inspirational quotes or posters of famous artists work. The wall has been fixed, but the bulletin boards had to be taken down.
With these decals I can Display famous works of art directly on my walls.
The offices supplies they we use have paintings by Van Gogh. Right now my Kindergarteners are learning about Pablo Picasso and his blue period. Later in the year they will learn about Van Gogh, Banksy, Leonardo Da Vinci and other artists. These decals will be a great start!
My students love to look at picture books after they have completed their artwork. They need a place to lean back and relax. Now they will have a pillow with a Van Gogh painting to rest on while they read.
