Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title I school and are eligible for free lunch.
Our school's population is made up of African-American and Hispanic students.
Many of them are learning English as a second language. It is important for them to be able to express themselves through their art. My students love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.
My Project
A flood from a burst pipe in the bathroom destroyed the art room wall. the wall has been fixed, but the bulletin boards where I used to display student artwork had to be taken down. All of my art posters and decorations were damaged in the flood and had to be thrown away. The walls are very plain and I have almost no decorations.
My art room is in desperate need of a makeover.
I want it to be colorful and inviting, so that students will be inspired to create art. These decals will be a great start!
