Decorating the Library with LEGO

My Project

In the middle school setting, students lack the social-emotional skills needed to interact with others. For a few years, my students were very interested in putting together jigsaw puzzles. Now, students have expressed a strong desire to build LEGO sets, which will help them get along better with each other. They are allowed to build LEGO sets in the library when they come with a class or when a teacher gives them a reward pass. This project helps address the need to work with others by providing an outlet for stress relief and student interaction.

LEGO sets allow students the ability to interact, build, and focus while following a set of instructions.

These resources will be available in the library for any student who would like to use them. The overall goal is to create a safe learning space where all students feel successful and interact with others while working on a common goal. Teamwork is the dream work.
