My Students

I have a class of amazing second-grade students who are eager to learn, love to play, and are creative and funny. In my class, you will see students of all colors and nationalities and hear them speaking several different languages. Our school serves Title I students as well as many English learners from all over the world and students with special needs. Our school has several special needs students who mainstream into our rooms, so we truly serve everyone.

My students love to learn!

They ask questions, investigate things, and celebrate their achievements. They work hard, play hard, and practice kindness. The last year and a half has been difficult, but we are working hard to relearn how to do school, how to work with others, how to have grit and work hard.

We are located in a middle-class neighborhood in the East Bay, but we serve kids from all socioeconomic levels and all cultures. We are a family who works together, supports each other, and celebrates our achievements!

My Project

We are definitely living in stressful times. From covid and online learning to home and social stresses, students are coming to school and carrying a lot on their minds and in their hearts and bodies. Kids who are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression have difficulty engaging and learning in class. Sometimes this stress manifests itself in inappropriate behaviors. Students need ways to decompress.

A hallway sensory path will give ALL students a positive, interactive way to relieve stress through movement.

A break from class combined with exercise will help them unwind and deescalate. Students will jump, climb, hop, spin and crawl their way to a calmer and more collected self. A calmer, more peaceful student will come back to class more equipped to listen and learn.

This path would be used by nearly 200 students from TK through Second grade so it would get a lot of use. Many students would benefit from the opportunity to relax, unwind and get rid of anxiety and stress.
