Decoding Our Way to Reading

My Project

My students have loved growing as readers this school year, and I'm so incredibly proud of all their hard work and progress. I have been doing a lot of research through my masters program, as well as in my free time, into the Science of Reading. Currently, our hallway book collection is mostly leveled texts that include a considerable number of sight words students would need to know, without including words that they have learned the rules for decoding.

I know my students will benefit from adding decodable texts to our classroom and school library.

We are getting ready to merge with another elementary school, and these books will be shared across the grade level with other teachers to ensure we all have access to high-quality texts! We have ordered other books from Pioneer Valley in the past, and know that they make high quality, high interest books for students!
